Lady Jay
The glowing light and legacy of a courageous woman Lady Jay
Shines on many people
Her actions built a life and shaped a community
“She bloomed like a plant” establishing organization and places of worship that never existed
Advocating for many women’s rights
She had the courage of every woman that roamed this world
Countless endeavors caused by her brave activism
Gaining priceless rewards that expressed Lady Jay
A lifetime of volunteer work and community service was acknowledged and remembered
With the ravaging pandemic people gathered on a virtual meeting to honor the legacy
“If she was still with us, she would be finding ways to help people in this pandemic.”
She is remembered from a European queen to a US senator
She was the founder of India Fest
Founder and first president of Asian Indians of Hampton Roads
Founder of Citizens First fights injustice, battles discrimination and promotes human rights
Appointed and confirmed by Virginia General Assembly to the Council on Human Rights
Recipient of one of the 2009 Rumi Peace and Dialogue Award
Not only was she an activist but also a caring mother
Having 5 children and 5 grandchildren she had faith, freedom and family
She called her home in Virginia the “Global Village”
Because all were welcome there with a cup of tea and a home cooked meal
She was the queen of activism, strong heart, and had many more accomplishments.
She believed that hatred and bitterness had no place in her life
Because she had a mission to accomplish
A mission to create love in the hearts of all human beings
No hatred. Only Love. One person at a time
Lady Jay you will never be forgotten

Lady Jay was my grandaunt who left a legacy of advocating for women's rights. She touched many souls and helped shape a community that thrives today in Virginia. She is a great role model for many and hopefully will remain in people’s hearts for a long time.
